“Here There and Now is an exhibition to showcase the talents of 3 very different artists Niki McDonald, Natalie Smith and José Herrera. At Zigi’s Art Wine and Cheese Bar they are collaborate to celebrate their art. Niki McDonald is a tapestry artist and painter who presents themes of feminine sensuality and strength on a background of tagged and graffiti laneway markings. The urban environment and the women who live in it work symbiotically to empower themselves. The urban Streets and lane ways facilitate the style and panache of the women, it adds to their individuality and allows them to walk through life proudly. Natalie Smith is a multi disciplinary artist who draws on a range of media to explore themes surrounding the human body. Her current body of work explores belief systems and ritual as a way of deciphering how we have come to understand and accept human existence. Symbol, motif, abstraction and repetition are key contributors to her signature style. Through art, the body becomes a site for defining individual identity, constructing sex and gender ideals, understanding our existence and experimenting with the nature of representation itself. Natalie currently lives and works in Wellington, New Zealand. José Herrera has evolved as an artist in the past few years focusing on his fine art practice after many years of commercial success in the interior design and fashion industry. He has lived in Asia, Europe and New Zealand which have influenced his signiture use of colour and light, creating works he call’s ‘Postcards’, to captures the essences of the landscapes he has traveled and imagined. In this exhibition he presents a cross section works inspired by his time in Portugal, Bali and the urban landscape of Sydney.United in this exhibition through their use of bold colors urban symbols and sensual forms the show provides a platform for their individuals style in a cohesive mix of Paintings, Prints and Tapestries. On show from the 15th Of April to the 4th of May 2014″
